HONORING SENATOR ADAM J. SATCHELL ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE RHODE

ISLAND SENATE AFTER HIS EIGHT YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED AND EXEMPLARY

SERVICE

     WHEREAS, Senator Adam J. Satchell was elected in 2012 to serve the citizens of West

Warwick in Rhode Island Senate District 9. He was born in 1981 and is a graduate of West

Warwick High School, Merrimack College, where he attained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology,

and Rhode Island College, where he attained a Master's degree in School Counseling. He also

studied education at St. Patrick’s College in Dublin, Ireland. He is a lifelong enthusiastic

supporter of his beloved West Warwick Wizards; and

     WHEREAS, Since his election, Senator Satchell has been a passionate and eloquent

fighter on behalf of the citizens of West Warwick, fair and equitable education funding, collective

bargaining rights, restoring historical tax credits, marriage equality, and investing in renewable

energy; and

     WHEREAS, Senator Satchell serves as Secretary of the Senate Education Committee and

is a member of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. In those positions, he has

fought fiercely against any cuts in education for the Town of West Warwick and for the State, and

has worked hard to provide quality health care service to students from impoverished families;

and

     WHEREAS, Senator Satchell has always been a tireless advocate on behalf of the mental

and behavioral well-being of children throughout the State and has worked hard to increase the

number of school counselors and mental health workers; and

     WHEREAS, Senator Satchell is an educator by profession. He is married to Kayla

O’Malley Satchell and together they have one child. Senator Satchell’s integrity, eloquence and

expertise in education and health issues will be sorely missed; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby honors Senator Adam

J. Satchell on his retirement from the Rhode Island Senate after eight years of distinguished and

exemplary service; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Adam J. Satchell.
