EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MICHAEL P. BATALON

     WHEREAS, It is with sincere sadness that this House has learned of the untimely passing

2

of Michael P. Batalon, the beloved husband of Lindsay Batalon, and the cherished father of

3

Bridget Batalon, Drew Batalon and Christopher Batalon; and

4

     WHEREAS, Born in the City of Providence, Mr. Batalon was the son of Paul and Susan

5

Batalon, and the brother of Janet Batalon, and Brian Batalon and his wife, Karley. He also leaves

6

behind his paternal grandfather, Deacon Raymond Batalon, his mother-in-law, Melissa

7

McQueeney, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and John Masson, his nephews,

8

Nathan and Jason Batalon, and his niece, Lauren Masson; and

9

     WHEREAS, Mr. Batalon was a life-long Warwick resident. He attended Warwick

10

Veterans Memorial High School, and earned his degree from the University of Rhode Island; and

11

     WHEREAS, For nineteen years, Mr. Batalon had taught Physical Education and Health

12

at Pilgrim High School and most recently, at Winman Middle School. He was also a member of

13

the Warwick Teachers Union, Local 915; and

14

     WHEREAS, In addition to his family and teaching, Mr. Batalon was a beloved coach and

15

mentor in the community. He was the coach for numerous local sports teams including the

16

Warwick Veterans High School Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity boys basketball teams, the

17

Pilgrim High School Freshman baseball team, the Pilgrim High School girls Varsity basketball,

18

and AAU baseball. In 2015, he had coached the Pilgrim High School boys Varsity basketball

19

team, leading them to a state championship, and had previously been coach with the Warwick

20

American Little League, who, under his guidance, had also won a city championship; and

     WHEREAS, The most fitting tribute to Michael Batalon would be a celebration of his

2

life, a life in which each and every day was lived fully and joyfully embraced. He was fortunate

3

to have always enjoyed the total love and support of his family and enjoyed making a positive

4

difference in the lives of the young people he taught and coached. He will be dearly missed; now,

5

therefore be it

6

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

7

extends deepest condolences on the passing of Michael P. Batalon; and be it further

8

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

9

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Lindsay M. Batalon.
