EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF SAMUEL C. KINDER | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that this House has learned of the passing of |
2 | Samuel Kinder of Bristol, the beloved husband of Janice Kinder, and the son of the late Joseph |
3 | and Shirley Kinder; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Samuel Kinder was a graduate of Providence Country Day and the |
5 | University of Rhode Island where he was a founding member of the URI Rowing Team. |
6 | Throughout his life he was a passionate supporter of both institutions; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Mr. Kinder was a hardworking man of integrity who was the third |
8 | generation owner of Samuel Kinder and Brother Landscaping of Bristol. He successfully |
9 | expanded and enhanced the family business by adding an extensive nursery and brought a touch |
10 | of artistry to the landscaping profession; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Mr. Kinder was a very active member of his community. He served on the |
12 | Board of Linden Place and was a Tree Warden for the Town of Bristol for decades. He also |
13 | performed in several local Gilbert and Sullivan operettas as the Baritone lead. He was recognized |
14 | and honored for his community service by the East Bay Association for the Arts, the Narragansett |
15 | Electric Company, and Blithewold Arboretum; and |
16 | WHEREAS, In his free time, Mr. Kinder, like a true Bristolian, enjoyed sailing, fishing, |
17 | 4th of July celebrations, and fish house punch. The most important thing in his life was his family |
18 | and he always cherished the time he spent with his loved ones; and |
19 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Mr. Kinder leaves behind his children, Elizabeth |
20 | Kinder and her husband, Zura Grdzelishvili, Charlotte Ricci and her husband, Ben Ricci, and |

1 | James Kinder, and his granddaughter, Elena Ricci. He also leaves behind his brother, Peter |
2 | Kinder, and was the brother of the late Karen Borchert, Joseph Kinder, Jr., and Harriet Kinder. He |
3 | is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins; now, therefore be it |
4 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
5 | expresses its deepest condolences to the Kinder Family on the passing of Samuel C. Kinder; and |
6 | be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Janice Kinder and Family. |
