J O I N T   R E S O L U T I O N

GRANTING A ONE YEAR EXTENSION TO THE TOWN OF JOHNSTON FOR THE

MANDATORY REVALUATION CYCLE AND REAL PROPERTY UPDATE

     WHEREAS, The Town Council for the Town of Johnston wishes to support the health

and safety of all residents of the Town of Johnston; and

     WHEREAS, The on-going COVID-19 Pandemic and Public Health Crisis is a proven

threat to health and safety, especially when concerning indoors and interactions with persons that

are not within each person’s so-called “COVID Bubble” cluster of close associations; and

     WHEREAS, Proper full taxation revaluations imply an en masse entry of third-party tax

assessors or property valuators into private homes and non-public business space; and

     WHEREAS, It is not in the best interests of the health of the taxpayers of the Town of

Johnston to have third parties entering their property during the COVID-19 Pandemic and Public

Health Crisis.

     RESOLVED, That there is hereby granted to the Town of Johnston a one year extension

of the mandatory revaluation cycle and real property update pursuant to the provisions of § 44-5-

11.6(h) Chapter 5 of Title 44 ("Levy and Assessment of Local Taxes") upon approval by a two-

thirds (2/3) majority of both houses of the general assembly.

     This resolution would grant a one-year extension for the mandatory revaluation cycle and

real property update to the Town of Johnston.
