H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING AND THANKING PROVIDENCE PARKS DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES

DAVID DOTI AND GARY KRAUS ON RECEIVING THE MUNICIPAL MEDAL OF

BRAVERY FOR RISKING THEIR LIVES FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS

     WHEREAS, On May 27, 2021, a house on the corner of Byfield and Ocean Streets

caught fire and was quickly engulfed in flames with thick smoke coming out from the third floor

and attic; and

     WHEREAS, Providence Parks employees David Doti and Gary Kraus witnessed the fire

breaking out and immediately, at great risk to themselves, rushed into the burning building to

make sure that everyone in the building was able to escape the fire; and

     WHEREAS, The heroic and selfless actions of Mr. Doti and Mr. Kraus exemplify the

very best qualities of the City of Providence. Mr. Doti and Mr. Kraus are dedicated public

servants who work hard every day to serve the people of Providence. Their actions on May 27,

2021, will be long-remembered by all who witnessed their bravery; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

congratulates Providence Parks Employees David Doti and Gary Kraus on receiving the

Municipal Medal of Bravery for risking their lives for the safety of others and thanks them for

their heroic actions on May 27, 2021; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Mr. David Doti and Gary Kraus.
