EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF PAUL A. ROBERT | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Paul A. |
2 | Robert, a venerated member of the "Greatest Generation", and the loving husband for fifty years |
3 | to the late Eleonore Robert. He was the cherished father of the late Richard Robert, Sr., father-in- |
4 | law of Kathleen Robert, the proud and doting grandfather of Kimberly Reilly and her husband, |
5 | Michael, and Richard Robert, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, and also blessed with beautiful great- |
6 | grandchildren, Madison, Caden, Raeghan, Brennan, Connor and Ashton; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Born and raised in the City of Woonsocket, Paul Robert was a son of the |
8 | late Romeo and Esperance Robert, and the brother of the late Pauline Brualt and Carmen |
9 | Rondeau. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Following his graduation from Woonsocket High School, Mr. Robert |
11 | enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator, in |
12 | England, France, Germany and the rest of what was termed the European Theatre of Operations, |
13 | and also across the Middle East and the coastlines of the China-Burma-India Theater. He was one |
14 | of a select few who served on both fronts during World War II; and |
15 | WHEREAS, For his valor and service, Mr. Robert was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific |
16 | Theatre Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the Air Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the |
17 | European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, and the |
18 | Distinguished Flying Cross, of which he was particularly proud; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Upon his honorable discharge, Mr. Robert returned to Woonsocket and his |
20 | education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Northeastern University. He made |

1 | his home in the Town of Cumberland and for over thirty-four years, was employed by the State of |
2 | Rhode Island Division of Public Utilities as an accountant, retiring in 1986; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Mr. Robert was a faithful communicant of St. Joan of Arc Parish and |
4 | enjoyed spending his spare time reading, and landscaping and gardening around his yard. His |
5 | loving ministrations resulted in a lovely home that "looked like it was right out of Home and |
6 | Garden Magazine"; and |
7 | WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father and cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, |
8 | Paul Robert lived and embraced a long and happy life, and his spirit and service to our country |
9 | will long be remembered; now, therefore be it |
10 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
11 | extends deepest condolences on the passing of Paul Robert; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Kathleen Robert, Kimberly and Michael Reilly, |
14 | and Richard and Michelle Robert, Jr. |
