It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 13-5 of the General Laws entitled "Station Houses for Women" is |
2 | hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 13-5-11. Availability of feminine hygiene products. |
4 | (a) Effective January 1, 2022, feminine hygiene products shall be made available to all |
5 | inmates who menstruate at no cost to the inmate. |
6 | (b) For the purposes of this section, "feminine hygiene products" includes tampons and |
7 | sanitary napkins. |
8 | SECTION 2. Chapter 42-56 of the General Laws entitled "Corrections Department" is |
9 | hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
10 | 42-56-43. Availability of Feminine hygiene products - department of corrections. |
11 | (a) Effective January 1, 2022, feminine hygiene products shall be made available to all |
12 | inmates who menstruate at no cost to the inmate. |
13 | (b) For the purposes of this section, "feminine hygiene products" includes tampons and |
14 | sanitary napkins. |
15 | SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
