EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of the |
2 | Honorable Peter K. Rosedale, devoted husband of Beverly Rosedale for fifty-two years, and the |
3 | loving father of Steven and his wife, the late Aileen Rosedale, Michael Rosedale, Nancy |
4 | Rosedale and her fiancé, Robson De Oliveria, Paul Rosedale, and Tom Rosedale and his wife, |
5 | Tiffany. He was also the very proud grandfather of William, Elora, Brooke, Lily and Avery, and |
6 | the companion of his beloved Siamese cats, Princess and Mitzie; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Born as Klaus Rosenthal in Essen, Germany, Mr. Rosedale was the son of |
8 | the late Otto and Martha Rosedale. He immigrated to the United States with his family at the age |
9 | of seven during the height of the Great Depression and just before World War II. With |
10 | employment scarce, the family relocated from New York City to Providence; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Mr. Rosedale graduated from Hope High School, where he served as |
12 | President of the debating society and was one of two recipients of the Anthony Medal for writing |
13 | the best senior class essay. Continuing his education, he graduated from the College of General |
14 | Education and the School of Law at Boston University, and served with honor in the United |
15 | States Army; and |
16 | WHEREAS, For more than forty years, Mr. Rosedale practiced law in the City of |
17 | Providence, was an active arbitrator in the public sector for the American Arbitration Association, |
18 | and performed thousands of civil wedding ceremonies; and |
19 | WHEREAS, In addition to his family and law practice, Mr. Rosedale was active in |

1 | Democratic politics, serving as a Rhode Island State Representative for ten years, and as a |
2 | member of the Providence City Council, the State Democratic Party Executive Committee, 9th |
3 | Ward Chairman, and Chair of the Representative and Senate District Committees; and |
4 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Peter Rosedale also served as Judge of the Providence |
5 | Municipal Court, and was Chair of the Rhode Island Bar Association District Court Bench/Bar |
6 | Committee, and Chair of the Board of the former Cranston General Hospital and the Warwick |
7 | Board of Canvassers. He was a member of the Aurora Civic Association, and a Board member of |
8 | the former Temple Beth Israel, served as President of the former Roger Williams Lodge of B'nai |
9 | B'rith, and was the only Rhode Islander ever elected as national President of the then junior order |
10 | of B'nai B'rith; and |
11 | WHEREAS, There is no doubt that the Honorable Peter Rosedale left this world a far |
12 | better place because of his life’s endeavors and accomplishments and he will be dearly missed. |
13 | May his memory be a blessing; now, therefore be it |
14 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
15 | extends deepest condolences on the passing of the Honorable Peter K. Rosedale; and be it further |
16 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
17 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Beverly Rosedale and Family. |
