EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF TIMOTHY ALAN

JACKSON

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness this House has learned of the passing of Mr.

2

Timothy Alan “Tim” Jackson of Warwick, and formerly of Coventry. He was the devoted

3

husband of Debra Cerel; and

4

     WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson was raised in Warwick, the son of Curtis Jackson and Judith

5

Jackson. He graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School in 1983, and proceeded to enlist in

6

the United States Army, first as a Reservist, and later upon reenlistment, as a full-time active duty

7

member; and

8

     WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson completed his basic training at Fort Benning in Georgia, and

9

additional rigorous training in order to become a member of the famed 101st Airborne Division.

10

He was stationed at the dangerous DMZ in Korea, and served our nation with honor and

11

distinction in the United States Army for many years until receiving his honorable discharge in

12

1991; and

13

     WHEREAS, After returning from service, Mr. Jackson attended the University of Rhode

14

Island, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in history. He worked for many years at

15

Citizens Bank where his tireless work ethic was much-admired by his colleagues. He had been a

16

Risk Associate Officer for Citizens Investment Services and later served as the Military

17

Maintenance coordinator on the Military Assistance Team. Most recently, he worked in the

18

Office of the Chairman of Citizens Bank; and

19

     WHEREAS, Mr. Jackson was always a busy man willing to serve his community in

myriad ways. He served as the Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster of Troop 11 in Coventry and

2

was tremendously proud of the fact that both of his sons obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. He

3

always took great interest in mentoring and educating all scouts and in recognition, received

4

many Mentor Pins. He also greatly enjoyed spending time at Camp Yawgoog; and

5

     WHEREAS, Throughout his lifetime, Mr. Jackson was fascinated with United States

6

history. He was a member of the Varnum Continentals, which encourages patriotism through its

7

Varnum Armory Museum, of which Mr. Jackson served as a Trustee and Treasurer. In his free

8

time, he was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking, and was also a firearms

9

enthusiast and a “motorhead” who loved everything about cars and had the great pleasure in his

10

younger years of restoring a Pontiac GTO. In addition, he enjoyed watching science fiction and

11

fantasy films, visiting Disney Parks, and attending live music performances, especially those by

12

Jimmy Buffet; and

13

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Debra, Mr. Jackson leaves behind his sons, Ben and

14

Teddy Jackson, and their mother and his former spouse, Pam Perry Jackson. He also leaves

15

behind his step-sons, Jacob and Colin Madore, his parents, Curtis Jackson and his wife, Myra,

16

and Judith Jackson, and his sister, Melinda Jackson Williams. He is also survived by his nephew

17

Ceasar Sumner and his precious yellow lab, Zoey; now, therefore be it

18

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

19

expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Timothy Alan Jackson; and be it further

20

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

21

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Mrs. Debra Cerel, Ben Jackson, Teddy Jackson,

22

Jacob Madore, Colin Madore, and Melinda Jackson Williams.
