EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MARIO A. MANCIERI | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Mario A. |
2 | Mancieri, the beloved husband of the late Margaret Mancieri for fifty-four years, the father of |
3 | Michael Mancieri and his wife, Denise, Paul Mancieri and his wife, Adriana, and Kevin Mancieri |
4 | and his wife, Andrea, and the proud and beloved grandfather of Katherine Flour and her husband, |
5 | Jasper, Bella Aguiar, and Harrison, Matthew, and Avalyn Mancieri. He also leaves behind his |
6 | loving partner, Robin Eaton; and |
7 | WHEREAS, "Big Red" Mancieri, as he was fondly known by family and friends, was the |
8 | son of Pantaleone and Virginia Mancieri, and the brother of the late Saverio (Robert) and |
9 | Bonaventura (Reno) Mancieri. He was the uncle of Ginny, Lori, and Debbie, who "were the |
10 | daughters he never had" and their husbands Jim Calenda, Ed McGrath, and Don Brown, and his |
11 | nephews, Bob, and the late Nick, and nieces, Robin-Sue and Lisa; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Mr. Mancieri began his venerable career in education as an elementary |
13 | school teacher in Tiverton and subsequently moved to the Portsmouth school system where his |
14 | leadership skills quickly earned him a promotion to Assistant Principal at the middle school, then |
15 | to Assistant Superintendent of the district, and ultimately to being named Superintendent of |
16 | Schools in Portsmouth until his retirement in 1999; and |
17 | WHEREAS, Never one to remain idle, upon retirement Mr. Mancieri partnered with his |
18 | son, Paul, and opened the Italian restaurant "Leo’s" where he worked side-by-side with his wife |
19 | and son until once again retiring in 2009; and |
20 | WHEREAS, Mr. Mancieri and his wife spent the next years traveling with friends and |

1 | enjoying their expanding family, as well as entertaining, cooking, discussing everything with |
2 | everyone, and sharing a libation or two at their home. He was also a devoted member of the |
3 | Woodchucker Golf League; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Mario Mancieri was blessed and grateful for his large and loving family and |
5 | lifelong friends with whom he had built and shared a wonderful life and created enduring |
6 | memories, and he is dearly missed; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of State of Rhode Island hereby extends |
8 | deepest condolences on the passing of Mario A. Mancieri; and be it further |
9 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
10 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Michael Mancieri and Family, Paul Mancieri |
11 | and Family, and Kevin Mancieri and Family. |
