1 | WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Black Business Association (RIBBA) is a non-profit |
2 | organization committed to advancing business opportunities for Black-owned and minority |
3 | businesses in Rhode Island by increasing access to much-needed capital, contracting, and |
4 | business development resources. RIBBA also focuses on entrepreneur training, business |
5 | advocacy, investor services and workforce development; and |
6 | WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Black Business Association was created in November of |
7 | 2010, when its founder and President, Ms. Lisa Ranglin, PMP, mobilized community leaders and |
8 | brought them together to examine the issues pertaining to developing small businesses in |
9 | underserved cities. Under Ms. Ranglin’s guidance and direction, strategy sessions and random |
10 | sampling of individuals and businesses were conducted to help determine priorities for enhancing |
11 | and expanding minority small business activities; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Thanks to Ms. Ranglin’s extraordinary leadership, RIBBA has gained |
13 | significant prominence within the minority community and has become an important and vital |
14 | voice in support of economic development and job creation within underserved communities. |
15 | RIBBA is made up of individuals across the spectrum of humanity, is open to the public, and |
16 | celebrates diversity and the contributions and achievements of people from all walks of life, |
17 | socioeconomic status, and across all ethnic, racial, gender, cultural, and sexual orientation |
18 | backgrounds; now, therefore be it |
19 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |

1 | joyously celebrates the 11th Anniversary of the Rhode Island Black Business Association; and be |
2 | it further |
3 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
4 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Lisa Ranglin, PMP, President of the Rhode |
5 | Island Black Business Association. |
