EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ANGELO A. PADULA, | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Angelo |
2 | A. Padula, Sr., the beloved husband of 71 years to Frances Padula. He was a lifelong resident of |
3 | West Warwick, and the second youngest of nine children born to Luigi and Enrichetta Padula; |
4 | and |
5 | WHEREAS, Mr. Padula was a member of the “Greatest Generation” and a deeply |
6 | patriotic man who served our nation with courage and bravery as a member of the United States |
7 | Army during World War II. He served with distinction as a Combat Medic under General |
8 | Patton’s command; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Mr. Padula saw intense combat during World War II in the Atlantic |
10 | European Theater. He served on the frontlines in the Ardennes Forest of Belgium and fought |
11 | during the Siege of Bastogne and other skirmishes during the Battle of the Bulge. He was also |
12 | stationed in the Rhineland and the Aleutian Islands; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Mr. Padula was honorably discharged from the United States Army in |
14 | September of 1945. In recognition of his important service to our nation, he was awarded the |
15 | Good Conduct Medal, the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater campaign ribbons, the |
16 | Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon and other military awards and honors; and |
17 | WHEREAS, After World War II, Mr. Padula met the love of his life, Frances, and they |
18 | were married in 1950. Together they raised two children and were the proud grandparents of four; |

1 | WHEREAS, Mr. Padula was a successful businessman. He founded Padula Brothers in |
2 | 1950, now known as Angelo Padula & Son Inc. Salvage Yard, after his son Angelo joined the |
3 | company, a business they ran together for fifty years; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Mr. Padula was a kind, generous and big-hearted man. There are many |
5 | people in West Warwick who tell stories of him helping people keep their cars on the road, even |
6 | when they did not have any money, thanks to his generosity in giving them the parts they needed |
7 | at no cost; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Mr. Padula was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his |
9 | wife and children. He loved tending to his garden with his wife by his side, and spending an |
10 | afternoon with family and friends sharing good food and conversation. He also enjoyed being |
11 | involved with youth sports and coaching, and sponsoring his children’s basketball and softball |
12 | teams; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife Frances, Mr. Padula leaves behind his children, |
14 | Angelo A. Padula, Jr., and his wife, Penny, and Carlene Marchessault and her husband, Steven, |
15 | and his grandchildren, Ashley Hughes, Brittany Hughes, Zachary Padula, and Nicole |
16 | Marchessault. Mr. Padula was the brother of the late Domenic, Giuseppe, Joseph, John, Ralph, |
17 | Anthony and Michael Padula, and Lucy Parente, and is survived by many nieces and nephews; |
18 | now, therefore be it |
19 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
20 | expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Angelo A. Padula, Sr.; and be it further |
21 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
22 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Frances Padula and Family. |
