CONGRATULATING THE NORTH KINGSTOWN HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM ON | |
WINNING THE 2022 RHODE ISLAND DIVISION I BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP | |

1 | WHEREAS, The North Kingstown Skippers baseball team had an outstanding season, |
2 | compiling a stellar 16-2 Divisional record for a first place tie, and an impressive overall regular |
3 | season record of 25-3, the best in Division I; and |
4 | WHEREAS, As a result of their regular season success, the Skippers received a one seed |
5 | and a first round bye in the Division I playoffs. North Kingstown survived a scare in the |
6 | quarterfinals from Cranston West, before pulling out a 2-1 victory to advance to the semi-final |
7 | round. The Skippers proceeded to sweep Portsmouth with two straight victories to advance to the |
8 | finals; and |
9 | WHEREAS, North Kingstown swept archrival Bishop Hendricken in two straight games |
10 | to repeat as State Champions. In a thrilling pitcher’s duel, the Skippers won the first game 1-0 |
11 | with Evan Maloney and Braeden Perry combining for a no-hitter to defeat the Hawks ace pitching |
12 | star Alex Clemmey, who struck out 13 in defeat. In the deciding match, North Kingstown jumped |
13 | out to a big early lead and held on to prevail and clinch their championship in a high-scoring 10 |
14 | to 7 victory. After losing a 5-0 lead to Hendricken, North Kingstown, showing the grit and |
15 | resiliency they exhibited all season, rallied to take the lead again in the eighth inning by putting |
16 | four runs on the board thanks in large part to a clutch triple by Andrew Ciarniello. Hendricken |
17 | tried to rally one last time before T.J. Gormley closed the door and clinched another baseball title |
18 | for the Skippers. North Kingstown had just become only the third public school team to repeat as |
19 | champions in the last 70 years; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Winning a State Championship is an incredible feat, one that requires that |
2 | every player on the team give their all and place team goals ahead of personal aspirations. The |
3 | North Kingstown Baseball Team had these attributes in abundance as they were led all season by |
4 | the important contributions provided by Will Brew, Blake Beattie, Hank Martin, Andrew |
5 | Ciarniello, Quincy Rome, Alec Bard, Robbie Lamond, Luke Porter, Will Draper, Ben Davis, Ben |
6 | Napoli, Max Proulx, T.J. Gormley, Evan Beattie, Braeden Perry, Ryan Dionizio, Evan Maloney, |
7 | Will Creed, and Josh Lincourt. The Skippers also benefitted all season from the outstanding |
8 | leadership and coaching provided by Head Coach Kevin Gormley, and Assistant Coaches Bill |
9 | Brew and Anthony Ucci; now, therefore be it |
10 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
11 | heartily congratulates the North Kingstown Baseball Team on winning their second straight |
12 | Rhode Island Division I Baseball Championship; and be it further |
13 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
14 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to North Kingstown Head Baseball Coach, Kevin |
