H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JOSE A. SEVERINO

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Jose

2

Severino, the beloved husband of Alma Perez; and

3

     WHEREAS, Mr. Severino was born in Villa Altagracia, Dominican Republic, son of the

4

late Lorenza Correa and Lalo Severino. He immigrated to the United States in the 1970s and

5

worked tirelessly to provide for his loved ones and to ensure that his family members were able to

6

immigrate to the United States. He successfully helped many of his family members and assisted

7

them as they sought work and decent housing; and

8

     WHEREAS, Mr. Severino was a diligent worker who strived tirelessly to provide for his

9

family. He worked for more than twenty years at the Rhode Island Department of Health and

10

Human Services and served our State with integrity and dedication. He was a beloved figure, and

11

a valued mentor, friend, and father figure to countless people within the Rhode Island Dominican

12

Community; and

13

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Alma, Mr. Severino leaves behind his children,

14

Danika Severino Wynn and her husband, Joshua, Zachary Severino, and Elliott Severino and his

15

wife, April. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Soleil Wynn, Sky Wynn, and Xavier Wynn,

16

and his siblings, Carmen, Mariano, Enrique, Epifanio, Cornelio, Severo, Herminio, and Luis

17

Severino, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mr. Severino was predeceased by his siblings,

18

Ana, Isidira, Marino, Mario and Irma Severino; now, therefore be it

19

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

20

expresses its deepest condolences to the Severino Family on the passing of Jose Severino; and be

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

3

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Danika Severino Wynn, Zachary Severino and

4

Elliott Severino.
