EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF DONALD M. BROWN | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Donald |
2 | Brown, the loving husband of Celia Brown for more than sixty-five years, the cherished father of |
3 | Whitney Brown, and an original member of the Rhode Island House Veterans' Advisory Council; |
4 | and |
5 | WHEREAS, Born in South Kingstown, Mr. Brown was a son of the late Frederick and |
6 | Dorcas Brown, and the beloved brother of Dale, Michael, Robert, and Russell Brown, and the late |
7 | Susan Kresinski, Beryl Toth, Gale Brown, Richard Brown, and Betty Andrew. He was also the |
8 | uncle to many nieces and nephews; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Mr. Brown served our country with honor in the United States Marine |
10 | Corps. Throughout his lifetime, he continued his devotion to his fellow veterans as a founding |
11 | member and past President of the Rhode Island House Veterans' Advisory Council, where he was |
12 | recently honored with the title of "Life Member"; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, and had spent |
14 | most of his career in the field of education, serving for many years as the Athletic Director at |
15 | South Kingstown High School before retiring; and |
16 | WHEREAS, During his years in high school, college, and later as Athletic Director, Mr. |
17 | Brown’s outstanding athletic talents and his ability to lead, coach, and inspire young athletes, |
18 | earned him induction into the Hall of Fame at North Kingstown High School, South Kingstown |
19 | High School, and the University of Rhode Island; and |
20 | WHEREAS, In addition to his family, veterans' associations, and career, Mr. Brown was |

1 | a member of the East Coast Drill Instructors Association and the National Association of Watch |
2 | and Clock Collectors; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Donald Brown was a loving husband, father, son, and brother, who |
4 | motivated myriad young people and served our country with valor and our State's veterans with |
5 | steadfast dedication, and he will be truly missed; now, therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives hereby extends deepest condolences on |
7 | the passing of Donald Brown; and be it further |
8 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
9 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Celia Brown and Family. |
