EXTENDING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF LOUIS ESCOBAR | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Louis |
2 | Escobar, the husband of Jane Escobar, and the father of Lori Clarke and her husband, William, |
3 | Michael Escobar, and Lisa Hertzog and her husband, Kevin. He is also survived by his former |
4 | wife, Lorraine Hall, his grandchildren, Jason and Tyler Escobar, Jenna Clarke, Conner and |
5 | Tanner Hertzog, and his great-grandson, Dylan Escobar; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Louis Escobar was the son of the late Antone and Mary Escobar, the brother |
7 | of Antone Escobar, Manny Escobar, Mary Silveria and Josephine Vierra, and the uncle of many |
8 | nieces and nephews, and their children; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Mr. Escobar had lived his entire lifetime on the Escobar Farm in |
10 | Portsmouth. He was passionate about farming, open space, and working the land, and was proud |
11 | of leaving a legacy through the Aquidneck Land Trust, that both preserved the land he loved and |
12 | contributed to the character of Portsmouth; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Explaining how the milk industry ran and teaching the public about farming |
14 | and feed production by giving tours to anyone who would come by the farm were weekly events |
15 | for Mr. Escobar who also promoted agriculture by working at the local, state and federal levels, |
16 | and a tragic tractor accident that left him a functioning quadriplegic did not dampen his sense of |
17 | humor or his dedication to overseeing the farm; and |
18 | WHEREAS, On the State level, Mr. Escobar served as President and was a founding |
19 | member of Rhody Fresh, a member of the Agrimark/Cabot co-op, and a recipient of multiple |
20 | awards and recognitions. He was well known for hosting Portsmouth’s 4th of July fireworks over |

1 | the cow pastures and bringing calves to local events; and |
2 | WHEREAS, Louis Escobar, who was fondly referred to as “Mr. Portsmouth” was a |
3 | family man, friend and mentor to many, and he will be long remembered and dearly missed; now, |
4 | therefore be it |
5 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
6 | extends deepest condolences on the passing of Louis Escobar; and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Jane Escobar and Family. |
