AMENDING THE RULES OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE YEARS

2021 AND 2022

     RESOLVED, That section (27) of the rules for the House of Representatives adopted by

the House of Representatives at its January session A.D. 2021 entitled "House Resolution

Adopting the Rules of the House of Representatives for the years 2021 and 2022", be and the

same is hereby amended to read as follows:

     (27) When a motion is made and seconded, it shall be stated by the Speaker, or, being in

writing, shall be handed to the Speaker and read by the Clerk of the House before debate. Any

motion shall be reduced to writing before debate whenever the Speaker shall so direct. When any

motion or action requiring a second is seconded and the Speaker determines there will be more

than five (5) members seconding the motion or action, the members seconding the motion or

action shall have their intention recorded by use of the green button on the electronic voting

system and each member seconding the motion or action shall be recorded electronically. No

electronic second shall be required if the motion or action will be seconded by unanimous action

of the members.

     This resolution would amend the house rules to provide for the electronic recording of

members seconding a motion or action when there are more than five (5) members seconding the

motion or action.
