EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ROSE V. HARRIS | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Rose V. |
2 | Harris, the loving wife of the late Bennie Harris for fifty-nine years, and the cherished mother of |
3 | our friend and longtime legislative aid for the House of Representatives who provides exemplary |
4 | service to the people of this State, Michael Harris and his wife, Jennifer, and her step-grandson, |
5 | Sage Lake; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Born in the City of Woonsocket, Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late |
7 | Michael and Isabel Andrade, who had emigrated to the United States from San Vincent in the |
8 | Cape Verde Islands. She was the sister of the late Alfred, Francis, Joaquin, John and Joseph |
9 | Andrade, Alfred, and Antonio Costa, Ethel Lopes and Mary Amado, and leaves behind Cynthia |
10 | Lopes, who was like a daughter to her, and many nephews and nieces; and |
11 | WHEREAS, In addition to making a wonderful home for her family, Mrs. Harris was a |
12 | hard-working lady who had been employed as an operator for the former New England |
13 | Telephone Co. for seven years, and as a teacher's assistant for twenty-eight years with the |
14 | Woonsocket School Department; and |
15 | WHEREAS, In addition to her family and employment, Mrs. Harris enjoyed reading, |
16 | shopping, and her beloved cats; and |
17 | WHEREAS, Rose Harris was a woman of impeccable character and dignity. She could |
18 | light up a room and lift the spirits of those around her with her joyful presence, her colorful and |
19 | creative clothes, and her beautiful hair, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the good |
20 | fortune to be part of her glorious life; now therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
2 | extends deepest condolences on the passing of Rose V. Harris; and be it further |
3 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
4 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Michael Harris and Family. |
