EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF RHONDA FORTIN | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Rhonda |
2 | Fortin. She was born in Fall River, the daughter of William and Vivien Fortin; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Ms. Fortin graduated from Warren High School, and earned an Associate’s |
4 | degree in accounting from the former Barrington College. She was a hard-working woman who |
5 | tirelessly strove to provide for her family and loved ones. She was employed by the Town of |
6 | Warren for more than 15 years, and also served as a secretary for numerous town boards and |
7 | commissions. She was an enterprising woman and talented seamstress and baker, and for a time, |
8 | owned her own cake business, Elegance by Rhonda; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Ms. Fortin devoted much of her life supporting civic and charitable |
10 | endeavors. For many years she volunteered in support of numerous Bristol-Warren Regional |
11 | School District functions, including serving on the PTA, as a teacher’s aide and participating in a |
12 | plethora of school programs and clubs. She also organized the Cancer Pillow Project at |
13 | Kickemuit Middle School, where pillows were sewn for students to decorate for chemotherapy |
14 | patients; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Ms. Fortin’s community service activities also included serving meals to |
16 | veterans each Thanksgiving and supporting countless local fundraisers and charities. Ms. Fortin |
17 | was a true patriot who proudly displayed her support of our nation and military members, |
18 | especially her sons Jarret and Jevin; and |
19 | WHEREAS, A devoted mother who always put family first in her life, Ms. Fortin was |
20 | also a dedicated Christian who was actively involved in her parish, where she sang in the St. |

1 | Mary of the Bay and former St. Jean’s choir before joining the St. Luke’s choir; and |
2 | WHEREAS, Ms. Fortin leaves behind her children, Joseph Fortin and his wife, Nicole, |
3 | Riana France and her husband, Jameson, Jarrett Fortin and his wife, Raizza, and Jevin Fortin and |
4 | his fiancée, Alexis Franco. She also leaves behind her granddaughter, Ravyn Lily Fortin, sister, |
5 | Tiffany Quiterio and her husband, Dylan, and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends; |
6 | now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
8 | expresses its deepest condolences to the Fortin Family on the passing of Rhonda Fortin, and be it |
9 | further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Joseph Fortin, Riana France, Jarrett Fortin and |
12 | Jevin Fortin. |
