It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Title 16 of the General Laws entitled "EDUCATION" is hereby amended by |
2 | adding thereto the following chapter: |
3 | CHAPTER 112 |
4 | TEACHER RECRUITMENT |
5 | 16-112-1. Proposals to be submitted. |
6 | The Rhode Island department of education, in collaboration with the office of the |
7 | postsecondary education commissioner and the board of governors of the university of Rhode |
8 | Island, shall issue a report by January 1, 2024, which shall include concrete proposals to recruit and |
9 | attract persons from diverse and traditionally under represented backgrounds to teach in Rhode |
10 | Island public schools. This report shall be submitted to the governor, speaker of the house, senate |
11 | president, the chair of the house education committee, and the chair of the senate education |
12 | committee. |
13 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
