HONORING AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE AND MEMORY OF ZACHARY THOMAS | |

1 | WHEREAS, Rhode Island lost one of its most dedicated and compassionate advocates |
2 | for home nursing and healthcare services for those individuals living with disabilities or |
3 | disparities with the passing of Zach Quinn; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Zach Quinn’s life, although way too brief, and his intimate knowledge, |
5 | empathy, and commitment to providing the fundamental necessities for those living with |
6 | disabilities and disadvantages left a lasting impression and invoked positive change for the well- |
7 | being of many Rhode Islanders who day-to-day face untenable obstacles to their very existence; |
8 | and |
9 | WHEREAS, Although diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and bound to a |
10 | wheelchair, Zach always put others needs above his own, whether advocating for wage parity or |
11 | highlighting the significance and need for skilled nursing home care, he never let his own |
12 | impediments interfere or mitigate a positive outcome or advancement for the issues at hand; and |
13 | WHEREAS, To accomplish his goals, Zach often talked to news outlets, participated in |
14 | round table discussions, and testified before various committees and engaged legislators in his |
15 | efforts to champion the multiple issues affecting those who needed and deserved a voice; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Zach also served as an MDA Good-Will Ambassador for Maine and Rhode |
17 | Island, and had often spoken at various events about the complexities of living with Muscular |
18 | Dystrophy; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Zachary Taylor loved to laugh, loved his family and friends, and was |

1 | blessed with the ability to bond and connect with people of all ages and standing in life; and |
2 | WHEREAS, It is fitting and just that the memory of those who have distinguished |
3 | themselves as dedicated community advocates and leaders of whom we can all be proud should |
4 | be honored and recognized; and |
5 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
6 | posthumously recognizes and honors Zach Quinn for his dedication to helping improve the lives |
7 | of those living with disabilities and moreover extends deepest condolences to his loving parents, |
8 | Michael and Lee-Ann Quinn, and his cherished sisters Allison, Samantha and Alivia Quinn; and |
9 | be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized an directed to |
11 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Michael and Lee-Ann Quinn and Family. |
