It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Title 5 of the General Laws entitled "BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS" |
2 | is hereby amended by adding thereto the following chapter: |
3 | CHAPTER 93 |
4 | PROFESSIONAL OR OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE INDEPENDENCE ACT |
5 | 5-93-1. Short title. |
6 | This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Professional or Occupational License |
7 | Independence Act". |
8 | 5-93-2. Lawful presence requirement prohibited. |
9 | Notwithstanding the provisions of any other general law, special law, rule, or regulation, |
10 | to the contrary, lawful presence in the United States shall not be required to obtain a professional |
11 | or occupational license, under this chapter or any other chapter of the general laws, provided, that |
12 | the applicant meets all other requirements for licensure. |
13 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
