RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES -- THREATS AND EXTORTION | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 11-42 of the General Laws entitled "Threats and Extortion" is hereby |
2 | amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 11-42-4.1. Menacing. |
4 | Whoever knowingly and willfully delivers or conveys, directly or indirectly, a verbal, |
5 | written or physical threat to take the life of, or to inflict bodily harm upon, another person, shall be |
6 | guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be imprisoned for not more than one year or fined not more than |
7 | one thousand dollars ($1,000), or both. |
8 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
