RELATING TO LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS -- POSTING OF VETERANS'

BENEFITS AND SERVICES

     

     Introduced By: Representatives Azzinaro, Fellela, Serpa, Noret, and Place

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Title 28 of the General Laws entitled "LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS"

is hereby amended by adding thereto the following chapter:

CHAPTER 60

4

POSTING OF VETERANS' BENEFITS AND SERVICES

5

     28-60-1. Posting of veterans' benefits and services.

6

     (a) The department of labor and training shall consult with the office of veterans services

7

to create and distribute a veterans' benefits and services poster.

8

     (b) Such poster shall, at a minimum, include information regarding the following services

9

available to veterans:

10

     (1) Contact and website information for the office of veterans services and the department's

11

veterans' program;

12

     (2) Substance abuse and mental health treatment;

13

     (3) Educational, workforce, and training resources;

14

     (4) Tax benefits;

15

     (5) Rhode Island state veteran drivers' licenses and non-driver identification cards;

16

     (6) Eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits under state and/or federal law;

17

     (7) Legal services; and

18

     (8) Contact information for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs veterans

crisis line.

     (c) Every employer in the state with more than fifty (50) full-time equivalent employees

3

shall display the poster created pursuant to this section in a conspicuous place accessible to

4

employees in the workplace.

     SECTION 3. This act shall take effect on January 1, 2024.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

BENEFITS AND SERVICES

     This act would require employers in the state with more than fifty (50) employees to display

2

a poster containing basic information on veterans' benefits and services which would be created

3

and distributed by the department of labor and training in consultation with the office of veterans

4

services.

5

     This act would take effect on January 1, 2024.
