RELATING TO PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES -- MERIT SYSTEM | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 36-4 of the General Laws entitled "Merit System" is hereby amended |
2 | by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 36-4-18.1. Temporary exemption from competitive tests. |
4 | (a) Notwithstanding any general or special law, rule or regulation to the contrary to include, |
5 | but not be limited to, ยง 36-4-18, all job applicants applying for a classified service competitive |
6 | position within the department of human services shall be exempt from completing any competitive |
7 | test for employment. |
8 | (b) The exemption from testing shall apply until July 1, 2024. |
9 | (c) The provisions of this section shall sunset and expire on July 1, 2024 |
10 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
