1 | WHEREAS, The Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball Team has had one of the |
2 | greatest seasons in their school's history, compiling a sterling 28-3 regular season record and a |
3 | phenomenal 15-1 Conference record in the Little East; and |
4 | WHEREAS, At the Little East Conference Tournament, the Rhode Island College squad |
5 | continued their stellar play defeating UMass Dartmouth by the score of 66-60, and vanquishing |
6 | their arch-rival Eastern Connecticut State by nine points, 61-52, to secure the Conference |
7 | Tournament Championship; and |
8 | WHEREAS, In the NCAA Tournament, the Anchorwomen have continued their winning |
9 | ways and outstanding play. In the opening game they defeated Rowan University by eight points, |
10 | 67-59, and defeated the University of Scranton by seven points in the round of 32 by the score of |
11 | 62 to 55. In the Sweet 16 round, Rhode Island College defeated a tough University of Chicago |
12 | team by eight points, 64-56, to get to the Regional Finals; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In the Regional Finals, Rhode Island College met a Babson University |
14 | squad that had defeated the Anchorwomen in the regular season. This Elite Eight matchup was a |
15 | defensive struggle for much of the game, but thanks to a strong third quarter in which Rhode |
16 | Island College at one point scored ten straight points, the Anchorwomen finished the third quarter |
17 | with a commanding 41-32 lead and never looked back, winning by a score of 60-47 to earn a |
18 | berth in the Final Four; and |

1 | WHEREAS, The Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball Team has been led all |
2 | season by the outstanding play provided by Hailey Malozzi, Antonia Corsinetti, Izabelle Booth, |
3 | Dejah Middleton, Angelina Nardolillo, Claire Greene, McKenzie Field, Elli Cox, Madison |
4 | Medbury, Neleesha Meunier, Jayda Bing, and Jeniyah Jones. The team has also benefited all |
5 | season by the outstanding leadership and skillful coaching provided by Head Coach Jenna |
6 | Cosgrove, and Assistant Coaches Jhamal Diggs, Derek Shanks, and Claudia DeFaria; now, |
7 | therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
9 | congratulates the Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball Team for their highly successful |
10 | basketball season and wishes them continued success at the NCAA Division III Women’s |
11 | Basketball Tournament Final Four; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island College Women’s Basketball |
