EXTENDING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE THEODORE F. | |
LOW, FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE IN THE RHODE ISLAND GENERAL | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of the |
2 | Honorable Theodore F. Low, the beloved husband of Kay Hohenthaner Low for sixty-two years, |
3 | the cherished father of Sara Low and Emily Boenning and her husband, Dickson, and a respected |
4 | member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives from January of 1965 through 1974; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Mr. Low was the son of the late Isadore and Cecile Low, and the brother of |
6 | Brenda Mann and the late Susan Sauer. He was a lifelong resident of City of Providence, and a |
7 | graduate of Moses Brown School, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Brown University, where |
8 | he had been Class Vice President, and the Ohio State University Graduate School of Business. |
9 | He was employed as President of Sims Corporation, and had worked on alternative energy with |
10 | Widmer+Ernst and Blount Energy before retiring to start his own company, TFL and Associates; |
11 | and |
12 | WHEREAS, In the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters, during World War II and in three major |
13 | battles in the Korean War, Mr. Low served our country with honor in the United States Army, |
14 | earning a Bronze Star and retiring at the rank of Captain. He later served with the R.I. Army |
15 | National Guard, 43rd Infantry Division, and spear-headed the development and construction of |
16 | the Korean War Monument in Providence. From 2005 to 2017, he had served as the Rhode Island |
17 | Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army; and |
18 | WHEREAS, In addition to his family and career, Mr. Low had been a Trustee of Lincoln |
19 | School and Moses Brown School, where he had also served as Vice-Chair of the Board, was |

1 | Director of the World Affairs Council of Rhode Island, Planned Parenthood, and the Nurses |
2 | Association, and was a longtime member of the University Club of Rhode Island, the Swiss |
3 | Alpine Club (Engelberg section), and Willow Dell Beach Club. While in school and throughout |
4 | his life, he had also enjoyed athletics, particularly swimming, football, and sailing; and |
5 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Theodore Low was an officer and a gentleman who lived a |
6 | long and successful life, was dedicated to the betterment of our State and his fellow man, and he |
7 | will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
9 | posthumously honors Theodore F. Low for his service to our State and our Country, and extends |
10 | deepest condolences on his passing; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Kay Hohenthaner Low and Family. |
