EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF SALVATORE | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of |
2 | Salvatore “Sam” DeVincenzo, the devoted husband of the late Jean DeVincenzo for 62 years; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Mr. DeVincenzo was born in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, one of ten children |
4 | of the late Raffaele and Mary DeVincenzo. He was a longtime resident of Cranston who most |
5 | recently lived in Narragansett and spent his winters in Florida; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Mr. DeVincenzo was a hard-working and industrious man who daily strove |
7 | to provide for his family and loved ones. He was the popular and beloved owner of the legendary |
8 | barbershop on Broadway in Federal Hill, where he was known to many as “Sammy the Barber”. |
9 | He also served the State of Rhode Island with distinction as the Superintendent of the Rhode |
10 | Island State House for several decades and served our nation with honor in the United States |
11 | Army during the Korean War; and |
12 | WHEREAS, The most important thing in Mr. DeVincenzo’s life was always his family. |
13 | He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. Few things gave him more joy in life than |
14 | cooking his legendary Sunday gravy (sauce) and spending time around the dinner table with his |
15 | family. He also enjoyed spending time with his sons-in-law as a member of San Bernardino |
16 | Society, where they enjoyed playing cards and sipping red wine with their fellow members. Mr. |
17 | DeVincenzo was also admired for his sartorial style and the stylish suits he wore; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Mr. DeVincenzo leaves behind his daughters, Kim Nardolillo and her late |
19 | husband, Robert Nardolillo, Jr., and Gina Giarrusso and her husband, Angelo Giarrusso. He also |

1 | leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, the Honorable Robert Nardolillo, III, former Rhode |
2 | Island State Representative, and his wife, Jacqueline, Ryan Nardolillo and his wife, Julie, Giana |
3 | Giarrusso, Angelo Giarrusso, Jr., and Talia Giarrusso and her fiancé, Dr. Alexander Sabitoni. He |
4 | also leaves behind his two great-grandchildren, Rocco and Milania Nardolillo, and was the |
5 | brother of Michelina Caparco; now, therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
7 | expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Salvatore DeVincenzo; and be it further |
8 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
9 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Kim Nardolillo and Family, and Gina Giarrusso |
10 | and Family. |
