NATIONAL CONVENTIONS AND FOR PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Section 17-12.1-1 of the General Laws in Chapter 17-12.1 entitled "Primaries |
2 | for Election of Delegates to National Conventions and for Presidential Preference" is hereby |
3 | amended to read as follows: |
4 | 17-12.1-1. Date of primaries for election of delegates to national conventions. |
5 | (a) A primary election for the election of delegates to the national convention for each |
6 | political party shall be held in the manner provided in this chapter on the fourth Tuesday in April |
7 | 2012, and every fourth year thereafter. |
8 | (b) Notwithstanding the provision of subsection (a) of this section, for the 2024 primary |
9 | election only, the election of delegates to the national convention for each political party and for |
10 | presidential preference shall be conducted on April 2, 2024. |
11 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
