H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF DOREEN EZOVSKI

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Doreen

2

Ezovski of Slatersville. She was the beloved wife of the Honorable Gary Ezovski, former North

3

Smithfield Town Administrator; and

4

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Ezovski was the daughter of the late Amedee Gauthier, Jr., and Mary

5

Gauthier. She was a lifelong resident of North Smithfield; and

6

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Ezovski was a proud 1968 graduate of North Smithfield High School.

7

She attended the University of Rhode Island graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor’s degree in

8

English and math, and a Master’s degree in English in 1977; and

9

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Ezovski fulfilled her childhood dreams and became a teacher. She

10

taught with passion, empathy, skill and innovation from 1977 to 2008, before retiring from her

11

position as the English Department Chairperson at North Smithfield Jr./Sr. High School. She was

12

widely admired for her ability to reach, teach and motivate both the reluctant student and the

13

enthusiastic student; and

14

     WHEREAS, In her free time, Mrs. Ezovski loved spending time with her family and

15

many friends. She enjoyed cooking and her chocolate chip cookies were adored by all and the

16

talk of the neighborhood. She watched cooking shows, eagerly seeking interesting new recipes,

17

and loved few things more than cooking a tasty meal for her family. She also liked RV traveling

18

across the United States, and reading books, especially mystery novels; and

19

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Ezovski was a woman of deep Christian faith. She was a communicant

20

of St. John the Evangelist Church in North Smithfield, and had previously served as an

Extraordinary Minister of Communion and Lector. She also served her community as a member

2

of North Smithfield’s 125th Birthday Committee and proudly served as the Town’s First Lady

3

from 2016 to 2020; and

4

     WHEREAS, In addition to her husband Gary, Mrs. Ezovski leaves behind her precious

5

son, G. Matthew Ezovski and his wife, Shannon Ezovski, MD, her granddaughter, Rachel Mary

6

Ezovski, a sister, Diane Durand and her husband, Richard, and her many beloved God children,

7

nieces, nephews, and cousins; now, therefore be it

8

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

9

expresses its condolences on the passing of Doreen Ezovski; and be it further

10

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

11

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Gary Ezovski and Family.
