EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JOSEPHINE PIRO

RAIMONDO

     WHEREAS, It is with heartfelt sadness that this House has learned of the passing of

2

Josephine Piro Raimondo, the beloved wife of the late Joseph Raimondo for fifty-eight years, and

3

the devoted mother of Dr. Marianne Raimondo, Dr. Thomas Raimondo, and the former Governor

4

of the State of Rhode Island and current US Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo; and

5

     WHEREAS, Born in the City of Providence, Mrs. Raimondo was the daughter of the late

6

Peter and Emilia Piro, whom she devotedly cared for in their later years. She had graduated from

7

Bryant College, was awarded an Honorary Master's Degree in Human Relations from Bryant

8

College, and had been employed as an executive secretary in the office of personnel at the US

9

Rubber Company for a number of years; and

10

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Raimondo created a warm and loving home for her family and

11

especially doted on her beloved grandchildren, Dr. Theresa Raimondo, Dr. Emilia Raimondo,

12

Gianna Jasinski, Peter Jasinski, Thompson Moffit and Cecilia Moffit, and had a loving

13

relationship with her sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, David Jasinski, Dr. Sheila Raimondo and

14

Andrew Moffit; and

15

     WHEREAS, Always active in the community, Mrs. Raimondo volunteered in the Alumni

16

Office at LaSalle Academy, had served as a Cub Scout den mother for many years, and was a

17

volunteer for Boy Scouts of America with her husband; and

18

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Raimondo was a faithful communicant of Saint Philip Parish where

19

she had also been a CCD teacher, and had attended Saint Mary Star of the Sea in Narragansett for

many years, and in her later years, at Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish; and

2

     WHEREAS, Josephine Piro Raimondo deeply loved her family and God, who were the

3

center and foundation for her life, and she is lovingly remembered and will always be dearly

4

missed; now, therefore be it

5

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

6

extends deepest condolences on the passing of Josephine Piro Raimondo; and be it further

7

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

8

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Dr. Marianne Raimondo and Family, Dr.

9

Thomas Raimondo and Family and the Honorable Gina Raimondo and Family.
