S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF RONALD F. HEROUX

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Ronald

2

F. Heroux of Woonsocket. He was the beloved husband of the late Irene Heroux; and

3

     WHEREAS, Mr. Heroux was born in Woonsocket, the son of the late Pierre and Clara

4

Heroux. He was a patriot who served our nation with honor in the United States Navy from 1960

5

to 1964, and had been in the submarine service during the Cuban Missile Crisis; and

6

     WHEREAS, Mr. Heroux was a dedicated public servant who served the citizens of

7

Woonsocket with distinction as a member of the Woonsocket Police Department, retiring in 2003

8

after thirty years of service. He was known for his strong work ethic and for working tirelessly to

9

protect the public and provide for his family and loved ones; and

10

     WHEREAS, Mr. Heroux was a member of the Woonsocket Elks and was a 32nd degree

11

Mason with Morning Star Lodge #13 Freemasons. He was also a lifetime member of the St.

12

Joseph Veterans Association. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking and was a member of the

13

Garlic Connection; and

14

     WHEREAS, Mr. Heroux leaves behind his sons, Michael Heroux and his wife,

15

Katherine, Bruce Heroux and his wife, Michele, and Alan LeClaire and his partner, Margaux

16

Morriseau. He is also survived by his brothers, Pierre Heroux and Richard Heroux, eight

17

grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and his companion Jo-Ann Rondeau. He was

18

predeceased by his daughter, Vickie Heroux; now, therefore be it

19

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest

20

condolences on the passing of Ronald F. Heroux; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

2

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Michael Heroux, Bruce Heroux, and Alan

3

LeClaire.
