S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF RITA I. BLAIS

     WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Rita I. Blais,

2

the beloved wife of the late Irenee Blais for sixty years and the devoted mother of Diane

3

Catalano, Janet Pincince and her husband, Phil, George Blais, Donald Blais, and Paul Blais and

4

his partner, James Morgan; and

5

     WHEREAS, Born in Lincoln, Mrs. Blais had made her home in Manville since 1950. She

6

was a daughter of the late Roch and Beatrice Giguere, the sister of Alice L’Heureux, and the late

7

Albert Giguere, Roger Giguere, Roland Giguere, and the mother-in-law of Bernie Catalano; and

8

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Blais created a warm and loving home for her family and particularly

9

adored her eight grandchildren, six great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews; and

10

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Blais was a communicant of St. James Church, and according to her

11

family, was a perfect example of Bessie Anderson Stanley’s quote “she has achieved success who

12

has lived well, laughed often, and loved much”; and

13

     WHEREAS, With a fun-loving personality, Rita Blais won the hearts of all who had the

14

good fortune to be a part of her beautiful and happy life, and she will be dearly missed; now,

15

therefore be it

16

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends deepest

17

condolences on the passing of Rita I. Blais; and be it further

18

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

19

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Diane Catalano, Janet Pincince and Family,

George Blais, Donald Blais, and Paul Blais.
