RELATING TO PUBIC PROPERTY AND WORKS -- STATE PURCHASES

     Introduced By: Senators Kallman, McKenney, Burke, and Sosnowski

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 37-2-22 of the General Laws in Chapter 37-2 entitled "State

Purchases" is hereby amended to read as follows:

     37-2-22. Small purchases.

     (a) Procurements, not to exceed an aggregate amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) for

construction and five thousand dollars ($5,000) for all other purchases may be made in accordance

with small purchase regulations promulgated by the chief purchasing officer. Procurement

requirements shall not be artificially divided so as to constitute a small purchase under this section.

     (b) Any municipality may, by ordinance or resolution, increase the minimum bid for small

purchases to ten thousand dollars ($10,000).

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

     This act would allow a municipality, by ordinance or resolution, to increase the minimum

bid for small purchases to ten thousand dollars ($10,000).
