RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- THE DEPARTMENT OF

HOUSING

     

     Introduced By: Senators Quezada, Ujifusa, Miller, McKenney, LaMountain, and Cano

     Date Introduced: February 16, 2023

     Referred To: Senate Housing & Municipal Government

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 42-64.34-2 of the General Laws in Chapter 42-64.34 entitled "The

Department of Housing" is hereby amended to read as follows:

     42-64.34-2. Powers and duties.

     The secretary of housing shall have all powers and duties as follows:

5

     (1) Pursuant pursuant to ยง 42-64.19-3(a)(4).; and

6

     (2) Creation of a written guide for consumers relating to the rights and duties of landlords

7

and tenants pursuant to chapter 18 of title 34, which the secretary shall update at minimum on an

8

biennial basis. The guide shall be posted on the website of the department of housing and shall be

9

published in both English and Spanish.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect January 1, 2024.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
