It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 17-2 of the General Laws entitled "General State Officers" is hereby |
2 | amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 17-2-7. Gubernatorial qualifications. |
4 | No person shall be eligible to seek election to the office of governor unless they have |
5 | resided within the limits of the state at least five (5) years next preceding any election for that office. |
6 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
