S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF LYNN A. DELGADO

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Lynn A.

2

Delgado of East Providence. She was born in Providence, a daughter of the late Mary Varela and

3

Joseph Varela; and

4

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Delgado was the devoted wife of Adrian Delgado. She was a hard-

5

working woman and respected professional who daily strove to provide for her family and loved

6

ones. For 45 years, she was the Chief of Data Management at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in

7

Providence. She was also very active in civic affairs and was a longtime member of the Cape

8

Verdean Progressive Center, and served as Chairman of the Board of Governors; and

9

     WHEREAS, In her free time, Mrs. Delgado was a passionate sports enthusiast. She was a

10

longtime member of the East Providence Volleyball League, a tenacious softball player and a

11

popular Little League coach. In her younger days, she had dreams of being a Roller Derby

12

competitor; and

13

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Delgado loved music and was always one of the first people on the

14

dance floor. She was a revered story teller and was appreciated for her great sense of humor and

15

ability to fill a room of people with laughter; and

16

     WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, Adrian, Mrs. Delgado leaves behind her

17

children, Adrian Delgado, Robert Delgado, and Sherita Delgado, her grandson Kyle Delgado and

18

great-grandson Harlem Delgado. She is also survived by her siblings, Mark Varela, Gary Varela,

19

Maryann Fonseca, Bernadette Varela, her uncle, Avelino Rose, and many in-laws, nephews,

20

cousins, and numerous friends, and was the sister of the late Steven Varela; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its

2

condolences on the passing of Lynn A. Delgado; and be it further

3

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

4

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Adrian Delgado and Family.
