RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES -- WEAPONS

     

     Introduced By: Senators F. Lombardi, Felag, Britto, Burke, LaMountain, and Ciccone

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 11-47-35.1 of the General Laws in Chapter 11-47 entitled "Weapons"

is hereby amended to read as follows:

     11-47-35.1. Persons exempt from § 11-47-35.

     The provisions of § 11-47-35 shall not apply to full-time members of the state police, full-

5

time members of the Rhode Island capitol police, full-time law enforcement officers within the

6

department of public safety, full-time members of the state marshal’s office, full-time members of

7

city or town police departments, or state marshals or correctional officers or persons licensed under

8

§ 11-47-11.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES -- WEAPONS

     This act would exempt from the requirement of § 11-47-35 regarding the sale of

2

concealable weapons, the full-time members of the state police, full-time members of the capitol

3

police, full-time law enforcement officers within the department of public safety, full-time

4

members of city or town police departments, correctional officers, or persons licensed under § 11-

5

47-11.

6

     This act would take effect upon passage.
