RELATING TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES -- WEAPONS

     Introduced By: Senators Ciccone, DiPalma, Lombardo, de la Cruz, Rogers, Burke,
Tikoian, and Raptakis

     Referred To: Senate Judiciary

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 11-47-12 of the General Laws in Chapter 11-47 entitled "Weapons"

is hereby amended to read as follows:

     11-47-12. License or permit fee.

     A fee of forty dollars ($40.00) shall be charged and shall be paid for each license or permit

to the licensing authority issuing it. No city or town or other licensing authority shall be permitted

to charge more than the forty-dollar ($40.00) fee authorized by this section. Every license or permit

shall be valid for four (4) years from the date when issued unless sooner revoked. The fee charged

for issuing of the license or permit shall be applied for the use and benefit of the city, town, or state

of Rhode Island.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

     This act would prohibit any city or town or licensing authority from charging more than

forty dollars ($40.00) for any license or permit to carry a concealed weapon.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
