	RELATING TO PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES -- POWER OF OFFICERS TO
	ADMINISTER OATHS

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Section 36-2-1 of the General Laws in Chapter 36-2 entitled "Power of
2	Officers to Administer Oaths" is hereby amended to read as follows:
3	36-2-1. Officers with statewide power.
4	The following persons may administer oaths anywhere within the state: the governor,
5	lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general, assistant attorneys general, general
6	treasurer, active magistrates and active and retired justices of the supreme, superior, family, and
7	district and workers' compensation courts, each member of the general assembly after he or she has
8	filed his or her signature with the secretary of state, commissioners appointed by other states to
9	take acknowledgments of deeds and depositions within this state, and notaries public.
10	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

1	This act would add active magistrates and retired and active justices of the workers'
2	compensation court to those public officers and employees authorized to administer oaths within
3	the State of Rhode Island.
4	This act would take effect upon passage.
