The House of Representatives meets at the State House in Providence, Wednesday, January 10, 2001, and is called to order at 4:10 o'clock P.M., by the Honorable John B. Harwood, Speaker.

I am respectfully writing to inform you that effective immediately, I am resigning my representative seat from District 41, Coventry, in the Rhode Island House of Representatives.

This resignation follows my election to the Constitutional office of Secretary of State.to the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. I will be sworn in to said office today at 1:00 PM by His Excellency, Governor Lincoln C. Almond.

In closing, I wish to thank you for all the help you have given to me during my 14 years in the Rhode Island General Assembly. I also wish to express my gratitude for your support and for your vote at the Grand Committee session on Tuesday, January 9, 2001.

At 4:27 o'clock P.M. on motion of the Honorable Speaker Harwood and Representatives Kilmartin, Faria, Moran and Palangio, and as a further mark of respect to the memory of Michael Joseph Patrick White; on motion of Representative Kilmartin, and as a further mark of respect to the memory of Shirley Ann Collins; on motion of Representative Coogan, and as a further mark of respect to the memory of Josephine Abbood; seconded by Representatives Martineau and Watson, the House adjourns, on a unanimous rising vote.
