INVOCATION

SENATOR THOMAS j. IZZO

Let us bow our heads in prayer to our Creator. God, we ask Your blessing as we convene today in the shadow of the tragedy inflicted on our nation and its people on September 11th. We pray for those who lost their lives in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. For those who were injured, we ask you to shower them with your healing mercy. Bless their families, friends, and all of us who have been so shocked and saddened by the horrific events of that dark day.

We pray in thanksgiving for all of those who continue to give of themselves so generously in searching for the missing, in assisting the injured, and in working to help New York, Washington and our entire Nation recover.

We ask, You to guide our President, our National leaders, our State leaders and all Americans, that in seeking justice, we not give in to fear and hate, but, rather, be motivated by wisdom, courage, compassion, hope and love.
