INVOCATION
PRAYER FOR GREEK INDEPENDENCE DAY
SENATOR LEONIDAS P. RAPTAKIS
Oh Lord, today we honor the heroes of Greece who fought for their country's independence. The Greek Revolution aroused a strong movement of support in the United States, because of the strong ties between our nations.
America's Founding Fathers drew their inspiration and ideas from the democratic values born in ancient Athens. We should be proud of all the great heroes of the past - American and Greek - whose vision and courage have meant so much to the development of freedom in countries all over the world.
Let us remember their work and re-dedicate ourselves to preserving the ideals they have passed on to us.
