Mr. President:

I hereby move to amend (02-H 7719) entitled "AN ACT RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES - REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES", as follows:

(1) On page 1, lines 6 and 7, delete the words, "and shall bear such letters or combination of letters and numbers as the administrator shall prescribe, and shall bear the seal of the state imprinted on it."

(2) On page 1, line 8, after the words "printed on it", insert the following language "The special plate shall be displayed upon the same registration number assigned to the vehicle for which it was issued and shall be used in place of and in the same manner as the registration plates issued to the vehicle for the period January 1, 2003 through December 31, 2004 and no longer. The original registration plates for the vehicle shall be removed from the vehicle and the registration certificate for the plates shall be carried in the vehicle, in accordance with section 31-3-9. The registration certificate shall be in effect for the special plate:"

(3) On page 1, line 11, delete the words "and numeral thirty dollars ($30.00)" and insert in place thereof the words "and numeral forty dollars ($40.00)".

(4) On page 1, line 12, after the word "application.", insert the following sentence:

"Twenty dollars ($20.00) of the service charge shall be paid to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and twenty dollars ($20.00) shall be allocated to the division of motor vehicles for its costs in manufacturing and distributing such special plates."
