INVOCATION
SENATOR J. CLEMENT CICILLINE
As we continue to mark and celebrate the feasts of two great religious personae, St. Joseph and St. Patrick, let us dedicate ourselves to embody the spirit of their efforts in finding solutions to problems, in finding common ground wherever we can, and in finding that our collective mission is to improve the quality of life for everyone, especially the most needy, the downtrodden, and the forgotten.
Now colleagues, I know you will join me in a very special prayer for a very special person, Patrick A. Lynch, the son of former Senator Thomas Lynch of Warwick. Patrick will be having a bone marrow transplant tomorrow, so it is appropriate to offer the prayer that this very courageous young man wrote himself.
"Inspiration of Understanding"
Dear God,
There are walls in life which we
sometimes do not understand.
We pray to You for an understanding
so that we may at least know why
we must climb over these walls
And if You cannot give us an explanation,
please give us inspiration from You, from
family, and from our friends to help us
get over whatever type of wall we
are facing - whether it be a
sickness or a test we
need Your help.
Amen.
Patrick A. Lynch
