SECTION 1. Chapter 39-21.1 of the General Laws, entitled "911 Emergency Telephone Number Act," is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section.

39-21.1-18 FIRST RESPONDER SERVICES. - In emergency situations which require emergency medical transportation services and arise out of a 911 emergency telephone system request, only those ambulance services which are operated by municpalities, for municipalities by contracted services, by fire districts, or by nonprofit corporations shall be used.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
