INVOCATION

SENATOR LEONIDAS P. RAPTAKIS

Oh Lord, today we remember the heroes of Greek Independence.

Just as the ideals of democracy which were born in Greece inspired the American Revolution, so too did the Founding Fathers and their commitment to freedom inspire the Greek patriots in their War of Independence.

Today in celebration of the founding of the modern Greek nation. It also gives us a reminder of the strong ties that bind our two nations together.

We thank those whose love of freedom drew them to the cause of Greek independence and allowed democracy to be reborn in its homeland. Amen.
