Media Advisory: House Judiciary Committee to hear same-sex marriage bill Tuesday
STATE HOUSE – The House Judiciary Committee has scheduled a hearing Tuesday on legislation to allow same-sex couples to marry in Rhode Island.
The bill(2013-H 5015) is sponsored by Rep. Arthur Handy (D-Dist. 18, Cranston). It would allow same-sex marriage and recognize unions previously made under the state’s existing civil unions law as marriages.
The hearing is scheduled Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the rise of the House session (around 4:30 p.m.) in Room 313 on the third floor of the State House.
The hearing will be broadcast live on Capitol TV, which can be seen on Channel 15 for Cox and Full Channel cable subscribers, and Channel 34 for Verizon viewers.
