A  N     A   C   T

RELATING TO THE CHARIHO REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. There shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the town of Charlestown at a special election to be held at a date not later than one hundred twenty (120) days after the adoption of this act said date to be set by resolution of the town council of the town of Charlestown, the following referendum questions, to which each qualified elector may answer:

(1) Shall the Town of Charlestown remain as a member of the Chariho Regional School District? Yes

No

(2) If you vote in favor of withdrawing from the Chariho Regional School District, should the withdrawal be for:

(a) Grades K Through Six (6)

Or

(b) Grades K through twelve (12).

SECTION 2. For purpose of holding the special election as prescribed in section 1 hereof, there shall be issued in the town of Charlestown a warning such as that which is prescribed by law for the calling of a special financial town meeting, which shall contain the questions to be submitted and shall state the day, place, and the time for casting ballots upon said question. On the date set for the special election, there shall be established in the town of Charlestown at least one (1) polling place, and all polling places shall be open for voting from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage.
