A  N     A   C   T

RELATING TO WATERS AND NAVIGATION -- REGULATION OF BOATS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 46-22.1 of the General Laws entitled "Uniform Boat Title Act" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

46-22.1-8.1. Transfer of title by intestate succession.. -- Unless otherwise provided in the last will and testament of a decedent, any vessel(s) owned by said decedent shall belong, and title thereto shall pass, to the surviving spouse.

The assistant director for the department of environmental management shall register said vessel(s) in the name of the surviving spouse upon presentation of the death certificate and registration of the vessel(s) of the decedent to the department of environmental management.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
